I've got a drawer full of old difficult drives that I wanted to trash but not just before retrieving something that I required off of them. Prior to buying the Cables To Go Adapter, I would have to laboriously install each and every drive into a firewire/USB enclosure that I had and the whole process took way too lengthy.
I finally smartened up and bought the Cables To Go adapter and it has made the job of hooking up a bare drive so significantly easier and quicker. Now all I have to do is plug two cables into my bare SATA drive, power up the drive, and then hook up the USB cable to my computer. The HD mounts up quickly and I am then able to do whatever I'd generally be able to do with the HD no matter if it's transfer files off or on to it, run diagnostics on it... whatever.
This solves a situation for me and does so exceptionally reliably and inexpensively. I give it 5 stars. The only issue you want to be cautious of is that you will end up with some cable clutter on your desk, so you need to use caution in placement of the bare HD, the power brick and cables so that you don't accidentally disrupt information transfer that might possibly be in progress. Take that precaution and you will need to be a pleased camper. I'm so glad I have this. It has truly created it super uncomplicated to hook up bare drives now and for that I am grateful.
Following a bad experience with a comparable product sold by eforcity, I was a bit nervous about acquiring a different IDE to USB converter. The CablesToGo item was a welcome adjust. Every little thing worked smoothly and I was in a position to read the drive immediately. The energy cable is effectively produced and even incorporates a handy switch on the DC lines to the drive.
